Best time to visit Indochina


In spite of being small in area, the weather in Indochina countries are extremely diverse and changeable. At different times, the weather will not be similar. Even at the same time but in two different places, the climate is also differently intense.

Typical example is Thailand, maybe it is dry season in Phuket, but in Koh Samui, 300km away is monsoon season. Therefore, it is important to note that the weather is a very important issue before starting a trip to Indochina.


Regarded as one of the largest countries in the region and also influenced by the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, the weather in this nation varies year-round.

• Bangkok

When to go: November to January is the best time. The average temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius. February - May is relatively dry, but humidity will increase gradually. Rainy season: June – October

• Chiang Mai

When to go: November - February. Thailand's second largest city has a large difference in temperature. In the evening, the temperature drops to 15 degrees Celsius but during the day, the temperature is up to 30 degrees Celsius. In March and April, the temperature ranges from 25-40 degrees Celsius. Rainy Season: May to October.

• Ko Samui

When to go: April - September and January - March Rainy Season: October - December. This is the time that it rains almost the day.

• Phuket

When to go: November - February is the ideal time to visit, daytime temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius and night time is slightly lower, about 23 - 25 degrees Celsius. However, this is not a big problem because you can be at the beach at any time.

Rainy season: May to October. The characteristics of the rains here are sudden but fast. This is the low season, it’s possible to get even luxury accommodation at less than half the high season price.


Like Thailand, Vietnam also has three different climate zones. Hanoi is very cold in winter, monsoon in Ho Chi Minh City and in the central region, the weather is more pleasant throughout the year.

• The central region (Hue, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang)

When to go: January to May. This is the driest time of the year with an average temperature of 21 to 30 degrees Celsius. June - August is hotter and humid.

Rainy season: June - July and September - November in Da Nang. October to early December in Hue, Hoi An and Nha Trang.

• Hanoi

When to go: Spring from March to April and fall from October to December are two of the mildest times of the year. Temperatures range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. In winter (January & February), the temperature can drop to 12 degrees Celsius during the day. The weather is cold but rather dry.

Rainy season: May - September. During these summer months, temperatures can be up to 40 degrees Celsius.

• Ho Chi Minh City

When to go: March to May, the weather is quite hot and dry with an average temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. From December to February, the weather is cooler with daytime temperatures of around 20-30 degrees.

Rainy season: from late May to early November.
